This isn’t really a recipe!
When the boys have gone through fussy stages with eggs, these eggs have always remained popular.
1 slice of bread
Preheat a non stick frying pan and the grill.
Using a gingerbread man or lady cutter, cut out the centre of the bread, making sure the crusts are still intact.
Put the cut bread and figure into the frying pan.
Crack an egg gently and pour the egg white into the hole in the bread, starting at the bottom.
Pour the yolk into the head area to create the helmet.
Fry until the white is beginning to become opaque, then, pop under the grill just long enough for the white to solidify but the yolk to remain runny.
Use the toast man to dip into the spaceman’s helmet!

Left a little comment re: the egg and toast lol not sure if it posted up I’m still getting used to the format 😝
It worked Deepsouthcakes! Thanks for checking out my blog, Ros.
Thanks Deepsouthcakes, they are always a hit with the boys! 🙂 Ros
I’ve done something similar to this with my son….lol. It’s good to eat plus it’s cute!

My pleasure Rozie! Ros
I love that you get the “toast man” as a bonus!
The toast man is essential for dunking in the yolk according to my boys! Ros
This is so sweet! Love it!

We do this but without the design lol we call it “egg in the middle” or “toad in the hole” or we used to call it the later more often but my youngest would stick out his tongue and wrinkle his nose up even though he is all boy..he’s still a Pisces and toad should not be on the menu. Even as a joke 😝
Hi Deepsouthcakes, thanks for re blogging! When we’re camping we just cut a whole in the middle and cook them on the BBQ. One of my boys has never been keen on eggs and this was the only way he’d eat them for ages!
awesome idea, my son doesn’t like egg yolks, but for a spaceman he might try one!
Hi Beck, spacemen work in my house just now but I have done dinosaurs, ducks and chicks in the past! Cookie cutters aren’t just for cookies!!!
How cute!??! Never thought about making fun shapes with these. 🙂
Thanks Debbie, it works a treat! Ros
What an awesome idea! I have to try this maybe with different shapes. Ohh the possibilities are endless!!!
Simple yes, but they’ll make you a rock star in your boys’ eyes. 🙂
Thanks Chgojohn! Not sure about the rock star status as they still have to clear up their own dishes! Ros.
This is a fun idea! Really cute!
Thanks FourthgenerationFarmgirl, anything to get eggs into the boys! Especially now as our chooks ramp up their laying! Ros
Haha, great idea. I must try this, I wonder what reaction it might get from my boys.
If they aren’t into spacemen try another cookie cutter! I’ve done dinosaurs, fish and feet in the past! Oh, and a very successful chick! Hope your boys like them. Ros
